Friday

  • Check-in and Registration: 9am Festival Grounds

    This is a 6 hour clinic that will guide participants from flatwater to moving with the flow on Class I/II.

    Goals: This course prepares participants with solid flatwater kayaking skills to paddle comfortably in a river current. The course not only focuses on skill building, but important safety fundamentals of river paddling. Participants will learn about eddies and how to use them to stop and slow down, river hazards and how to avoid them, and required gear and logistics.

    Outcomes: After completing this course, participants can expect to feel comfortable taking a personal (unguided) river trip on Class I Rivers. They will also have developed an understanding of the potential hazards, along with a variety of new skills that can apply to the moving water environment. Skills include wet exits, bracing, eddies, ferries, and reading Class I/II Rivers.

The course not only focuses on skill building, but important safety fundamentals of river paddling. Participants will learn about eddies and how to use them to stop and slow down, river hazards and how to avoid them, and required gear and logistics.

    Details: The White Mile race is an advanced class IV whitewater kayaking slalom race down the White Mile rapid of the Illecillewaet River. The racecourse constitutes of a start ramp, multiple downstream and upstream gates and a finish bullseye. The competitor will have to qualify to advance to the final. The qualification run time and the final run time will be added together to crown the winner. Penalties will be added to the run time if the competitor touches a gate, if the competitor misses a gate, the competitor is disqualified. Two race forerunners will be sent down the racecourse to determine the qualification time, the slowest forerun time will be the time to beat to qualify for the final.

    To enter the race, the competitor must be a solid class IV paddler, be able to walk upriver with their kayak on a narrow and steep trail and be ready to help on any river rescue during the race. Practice runs are encouraged the day before or day of the event. All racers must register, sign a waiver, attend the race safety meeting and wear a racing bib during their practice and race runs. If the racer swims out of their boat, the competitor must drink a bootie beer of their choice at the awards ceremony.

She is the Co-Ordinator of the Revy Paddle Fest and Talent Director behind Wicked Woods Music Festival.Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Allie finds inspiration from her California roots along with her musical inspirations such as Krafty Kuts, A. Skillz, DEEKLINE, the Gaff and countless others. Spanda has played alongside these beloved artists as well as worked with some of the biggest in the entertainment industry such as SLAYER, Billy Idol, Natalie Cole, Tony Hawk, Bam Margera, H.I.M., Jewel, and many more.As a Producer Allie has planned and coordinated large scale events and worked on major television and movies for MTV, HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, FUEL TV, Red Bull t.v. and more.     This female Canadian electronic artist whose journey is as much about creation as it is about exploration and storytelling. From DJing to producing, Lucy's creative path is an ever-evolving adventure. Currently signed with prestigious labels including Wildfire Recordings, Diesel Recordings, Garnet Deep Records, Mecanoplastica Records, Phreak Recordings, and now Fuzion Four Records, Lucy First continues to push boundaries and inspire with her multifaceted artistry.

    Hailing from a background in classical music, Lucy's fascination with sound began early, nurtured by her training as a composer and pianist. But it was her foray into DJing at the age of 18 that set her on a trajectory of sonic exploration. Initially a means to finance her college education, DJing soon became her passion. Drawing from her diverse influences and fueled by a relentless spirit of curiosity, Lucy delved into electronic music production, teaching herself the craft through online resources at her local library. From there, she expanded her creative horizons, venturing into game design and embarking on DJ tours across Canada and North America.
